Meanwhile, Iranian security sources reported the incident that took place in the operations room in Aleppo between Iranian military advisors and Syrian commanders during the days when HTS was advancing in the Aleppo countryside, and that in a sense changed the course of the process.
It is reported that Iranian military advisors are pressuring the Syrian command to repel the attack as the opposition advances.
It is reported that a Syrian general who entered the operations room in this tense atmosphere shot and killed Brigadier General Kioumars Pourhashemi of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. Official statements had announced that Brigadier General Pourhashemi was killed in a clash by Syrian opposition near Aleppo.
Iranian officials claimed that the tribe to which the Syrian general belonged had changed sides some time ago and that they had provided information and documents about him “indicating his contacts with the opposition” to Syrian authorities two months ago. It is being commented that the incident reveals the extent of the disintegration in the Syrian Army and the background to Iran’s decision to withdraw from the field.
