The country was plunged into darkness: This time a tropical storm hit Cuba

The fault at the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant, which has caused millions of people to lose electricity in Cuba since October 18, has not been fixed for days, and this time Cuba has been hit by Tropical Storm Oscar. Tropical Storm Oscar has caused storms and rain in the eastern provinces of the country, as well as moderate flooding in low-lying areas.

The failure at the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant in Matanzas, Cuba, first occurred on Friday afternoon, leaving about 10 million people in the dark.

Although electricity was restored to some areas after intensive efforts by authorities, more than 80 percent of the country has been plunged into darkness for days.
The fourth power plant failure in the last 48 hours has caused serious food, fuel and medicine shortages in the country.
Authorities announced that the problem will be solved and the power outages will be fixed today or tomorrow, and stated that the work was disrupted due to Tropical Storm Oscar, which reached the country.

Cuba, which has been struggling with power outages for days, was hit by Tropical Storm Oscar this time. The tropical storm, which reached Cuba after the Bahamas, caused heavy winds and rain in the country. Tropical Storm Oscar, which made landfall near the city of Baracoa in the Guantanamo Bay province in eastern Cuba yesterday evening, caused storms and rain in the eastern provinces of the country, as well as moderate flooding in low-lying areas.
Waves of about two meters hit the coast, causing damage to the roofs and walls of houses in Baracoa.
Authorities have reportedly set up 20 centers for those awaiting evacuation, and announced that the tropical storm is expected to subside tomorrow.
Havana, the capital of nearly 2 million people, was plunged into complete darkness and silence, while soldiers were deployed at various points in the city.
Havana residents protested the government with pots and pans due to the power outage.
Protesters, angry over food, water and electricity shortages, blocked roads in the city of San Miguel de Padron with piles of garbage.
The angry crowd was dispersed by security forces who intervened in the protest.
