The word you should never type on Google! It can crash your systems

A notable incident has occurred in the cyber security world: Users who searched on Google for “whether it is legal to own a Bengal cat” became the target of a cyber attack. Cyber security firm SOPHOS issued an urgent warning about the incident, specifically asking “Are Bengal cats legal in Australia?” It was reported that users who searched for the phrase “Are Bengal cats legal in Australia?” on Google had their personal information stolen as a result of clicking on the fake links at the top of the search results. In a statement, cybersecurity company SOPHOS warned users not to type these words in search engines and drew attention to the serious risks related to the issue.

According to SOPHOS, this attack is usually carried out with a method called “SEO poisoning”. With this tactic, attackers push malicious sites they control to the top of search engine results like Google.
By clicking on these seemingly harmless links, users are: Redirected to Malware Adware, Entered into trustworthy but deceptive marketing pages, Exposed to malicious links hidden in search results.
SOPHOS made the following recommendations to ensure users’ security against the threat of cyber attacks:
Change Your Passwords: If you think you’ve clicked on malicious links, change all your account passwords immediately. Use Antivirus Software: Up-to-date security software can detect malware and protect your device.
Check the Reliability of Links: Carefully examine the URLs of the links you click. Avoid untrusted links. Go to Official Sources: Access known and trusted websites directly rather than search engine results. Clear Your Browser History: If you have accessed potentially dangerous links, clear your browser history and cache.
This incident once again shows how targeted cyber threats can be. Cyber attackers may try to mislead individuals by using popular topics. Interesting and highly searched topics, especially exotic animals, can become an opportunity for cyber criminals. One of the most effective ways to protect users from such threats is to be aware of internet security, stay away from fake sites and be careful when accessing information.
