TikTok Removes 7 Million Videos in Turkey

TikTok removed 7 million 97 thousand 236 videos from the platform in Turkey in the first half of the year on the grounds that they violated “community guidelines”.

TikTok METAPSA (Turkey, Middle East, Africa, Pakistan, South Asia) Public Policy Director Emir Gelen said that it is necessary to create a multi-faceted strategy to ensure security on TikTok, where more than 1 billion pieces of content are shared per month.
Emphasizing that they carry out this process with both artificial intelligence technology that automatically detects rule violations and manual review teams consisting of more than 40 thousand people, Gelen reported that moderation teams also work every day to ensure that the content on TikTok complies with the “community rules”.
Gelen said, “In the 7-month period covering January-July of this year, more than 427 million TikTok accounts were closed globally. 379.7 million of these were accounts that were detected to be fake. 41.8 million accounts were removed on suspicion of being under the age of 13. In addition, more than 7 million accounts were closed for violating our community rules.” he said.
Gelen, drawing attention to the fact that they are doing a lot of work to prevent violations of the user age limit set at 13, said, “We are increasing security measures and testing advanced technologies such as age verification systems with artificial intelligence. “We are developing automatic systems to detect false age declarations,” he said.
