At least 40 people were injured when a truck crashed into a bus stop in Israel, and 10 people were reported to be in critical condition. Rescue efforts have been launched for those trapped under the truck. Israeli emergency services have described the incident as a “terrorist attack” and announced that the truck driver was shot dead.
Israeli police announced that several people were injured when a truck crashed into a bus stop north of Tel Aviv.
Israeli media reported that Magen David Adom emergency services reported that there were around 40 wounded in a “terrorist attack” on a bus stop in Glilot, central Israel.
Rescue workers announced that many wounded were receiving treatment. The police said in a statement that the incident was under investigation.
“A report of a truck crashing into a bus stop on Aharon Yariv Boulevard in Ramat Hasharon was received at 10:08 a.m.,” the statement said.
Emergency services later updated that at least 16 people had been transported to nearby hospitals.
THERE ARE PEOPLE TRAPED UNDER THE TRUCK
The Haaretz newspaper reported that at least 10 of the injured were in serious condition and many were still trapped under the truck.
The injured are being transported to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva and Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck driver was shot dead. Allegations that other people helped him are being investigated.
