Trump and Musk complicate matters: US government may shut down on Saturday night!

Republicans in the US, under pressure from new President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, threw out the spending bill. If Congress does not act, the US government could shut down shortly after midnight on Saturday.

US President-elect Donald Trump has opposed a temporary budget bill that would provide funding for the federal government through March.

Trump called on members of Congress to reject the bill.

Trump and Elon Musk attended the House of Representatives yesterday. The US press wrote that the bill was rejected under pressure from Musk and Trump.

Sharing the statement they made on the subject with Vice President-elect JD Vance on the Truth Social social media account, Trump stated that the bill would make it easier to store the records of the January 6 Committee and provide a salary increase to Congress.

The statement said, “We must pass a simple spending bill that does not give Chuck Schumer and the Democrats everything they want.”
After spending the day slamming the bill on the social media site X, which he owns, Musk bragged, “Your elected representatives heard you and now this terrible bill is dead.” Musk added, “The voice of the people has triumphed!”

Trump’s statement also stated that Republicans want to support American farmers, finance disaster relief, and make the US successful in 2025.

It was stated that the only way to do this is with an interim budget bill prepared “without shares to be given to Democrats” by increasing the debt ceiling.
Trump also noted the following in other posts on his social media account: “Republicans have to be smart and tough. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government if we don’t give them what they want, face it.”

Trump, who described the budget bill as “absurd and extraordinarily expensive,” said he would fight to the end if Democrats did not end or significantly extend the debt limit.

Trump also said that it was not a good time for Congress to demand a pay raise and added, “Hopefully, in the near future, when we ‘make America great again,’ you will be entitled to such a raise.” He noted that any Republican who was “stupid” enough to do so would enter the primary, adding that everything should be negotiated and done before he takes office on January 20, 2025.
