US President Donald Trump reiterated his rhetoric about sending Palestinians living in Gaza to neighboring countries, saying, “I want them to live in an area where they can live without unrest and violence.” Trump wants to see Jordan, Egypt and other Arab countries increase the number of Palestinian refugees they accept from the Gaza Strip.
US President Trump answered questions from members of the press about current issues on the plane he returned to Washington from Miami. When asked about his previous statement that Gazans should be sent to neighboring countries, Trump noted that his opinion on the subject had not changed and said, “I want them to live in an area where they can live without unrest and violence.” “When you look at the Gaza Strip, it’s been hell for many years,” Trump said, noting that violence has long dominated the region. Stating that he wants to see peace come to the Middle East, Trump said, “I think you can make it much safer and more comfortable for people to live in.”
“GAZA IS AN INTERESTING PLACE” After taking office last Monday, Trump suggested that Gaza “really needs to be rebuilt differently.” The new president later added, “Gaza is an interesting place. It’s an extraordinary place by the sea. The best weather, you know, everything is beautiful. Like you can do beautiful things with it, but it’s very interesting.”
