Turkish coffee detail in Merkel’s memoir: “She gave the recipe at the first meeting”

The highly anticipated memoir of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has taken its place on shelves. In her memoir titled “Freedom,” Merkel evaluates the close relations she established with Russia, her Ukraine policy, and her 16-year tenure. Merkel also frequently referred to Turkish coffee.

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s eagerly awaited memoir “Freedom” has hit the shelves.

Drawing attention with her 736-page work, Merkel delves deeply into her 16-year tenure as prime minister, her Ukraine policy and her relations with Russia.
The book was introduced at an event held in Berlin, Germany.

In her book titled “Freedom,” Merkel also shares the meetings she had with Russian President Vladimir Putin during her time as German Chancellor and the reasons behind these relations.
Due to economic concerns, Merkel shared the Merkel, who stated that she did not want to cut off relations, said that Putin was continuing his war relentlessly and mercilessly. “He is waging this war relentlessly and mercilessly. He is waging it against all of Ukraine, but fortunately he is not occupying all of Ukraine.” Merkel stated that she has no regrets about the decisions she made during her time as prime minister and although she said she was not happy with the rise of the far-right “Alternative for Germany” party in her country, she still supports her open-door policy towards immigrants.
Merkel also argued that blocking Ukraine’s NATO membership would have prevented the war from starting sooner.

Merkel, who frequently refers to Turkish coffee in the book, stated that when she first met her advisor Beate Baumann, with whom she wrote the book, she gave her a Turkish coffee recipe.

Angela Merkel is expected to attend an event in Washington with former US President Barack Obama as part of the promotion of her book.

The book will be on the shelves in Turkish in the coming days.
