Emphasizing that approval has not been given for months for the entry of blankets, mattresses and winter supplies needed by Palestinians in Gaza during the winter months, Lazzarini said, “Babies in Gaza are freezing to death due to the cold weather and lack of shelter.” Lazzarini called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and for the urgent delivery of basic supplies needed for the winter to the region. Palestinians living in makeshift tents made of fabric and nylon are trying to survive in difficult conditions due to the lack of basic necessities of life such as clothing, bedding and blankets with the arrival of winter. In the last 5 days, 5 Palestinians, including 1 adult and 4 babies, lost their lives due to the cold in the Gaza Strip, which Israel has been blockading and bombing for 14 months.
