X will share user data with third parties

X announced that it will share user data with third-party “partners” for the purpose of training its AI models. The new privacy policy, which will go into effect on November 15, 2024, paves the way for a system where external companies can pay to license data from X.

X has made a new privacy policy update to train its AI models by sharing user data with third-party “partners.”

The updated policy includes a new section titled “third-party partners.”

This section states that information may be shared depending on users’ settings. “If you do not opt out of sharing, in some cases recipients of the information may use it for their own independent purposes in addition to those set forth in X’s Privacy Policy; for example, to train artificial intelligence models,” the policy states.

While it is emphasized that users have the option to opt out of data sharing, there is some uncertainty about how to do this.

According to TechCrunch’s report, there is no control to opt out of data sharing in the users’ settings menu yet. However, it is thought that this could change before the policy goes into effect. X has not yet responded to questions about the new policy.
