Zelensky confirms clashes with North Korean soldiers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian soldiers came face to face on the front lines, saying, “The first clashes with North Korean soldiers have opened a new page of instability in the world.”

While reactions to North Korea sending soldiers to Russia to fight against Ukraine continue, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a new statement on the subject. In his video explaining the latest measures taken and work being done in the war against Russia, Zelenskyy touched on the issue of North Korea and said, “I would like to thank everyone who reacted to the deployment of North Korean soldiers to Russia.” Noting that some countries stand by Ukraine not only with words but also by supporting its defense, Zelenskyy said, “Unfortunately, terrorism can spread like a virus when it is not met with an adequate response.”

For this reason, emphasizing that their reactions should be “adequate” and “strong,” Zelenskyy confirmed that North Korean soldiers and Ukrainian soldiers had come face to face on the front and said, “The first clashes with North Korean soldiers have opened a new page of instability in the world.” Calling on the international community for support, Zelenskyy said, “Together with the world, we must do everything to prevent this step taken by Russia to expand and escalate the war from failing.”

UKRAINIAN DEFENSE MINISTER CONFIRMS THE CONFLICT It had been reflected in the public that North Korea had sent troops to Russia to fight against Ukraine, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed in a statement he made yesterday that Ukrainian and North Korean troops had come face to face on the front for the first time. Umerov, who said that Ukrainian and North Korean soldiers “engaged in a small-scale conflict,” said that “the conflict was not at the level of a systematically organized conflict in which all forces were mobilized.” Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, also stated that “North Korean military units came under fire for the first time in Kursk.”
